The Best Time of Year to Look for Rentals in Ibiza

Ibiza is known to many as an island of two seasons. Two very, very different seasons: the buzzing summer and the quiet winter. Finding a house to rent, really much depends on what time of the year you are looking. Bear in mind that in summer the demand for properties bursts and prices skyrocket, due to the high volume of holidaymakers and seasonal workers flocking to the island.
So it’s important to take this into account when trying to find something to rent in Ibiza. There are, of course, always exceptions to the rules and deals to be scouted – but in general here’s our guideline:
ALL YEAR ROUND RENTALS
Let’s start by saying that finding a good all year round rental in Ibiza can be quite tricky. Due to the rise of holiday rental websites many landlords would prefer to cash in with tourists over the summer months and leave their properties sitting empty during the winter months. Others might put the property on the market only for the winter months, as in summer they prefer to rent it out to tourists. However, this being said, it’s possible and most likely to find an all year round contract from October, that’s when the season is coming to an end, tourists and seasonal workers are leaving the island, landlords might be getting tired of high turn-over of guests and visitors and looking for a more serious tenant. November, December and January are still pretty good month to look out for all year round rentals.
SEASONAL RENTALS
A seasonal rental could be a whole property or a room in somebody else’s place, generally you will pay a higher premium than for an all year round property, but not as much as a tourist. The best time to find a good deal is by arriving at the beginning of the season, February, April or May.
HOLIDAY RENTALS
It’s said that the early bird catches the worm, and while some people love Ibiza so much that they book their next holiday with a super early bird discount directly after their holiday has finished, it’s true that a famous January-blues killing technique sees the most bookings around the time of January ahead of the coming year. Of course, it’s possible to book holiday rentals during when the season has already begun – but the best deals are often booked early.
